POULTNEY, Vt. – October 12, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team received hat tricks from senior
Adam Borbely (North Easton, Mass.) and junior
Mohamed Jafar (Burlington, Vt.) in Wednesday's 12-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Green Mountain.
Colby-Sawyer, which has won four in a row, improves to 7-4-1 overall and sit in a tie for second in the NAC at 4-1-1. The Chargers will host Maine Maritime on Saturday and will celebrate senior day.
The Chargers scored the game's first goal in the opening minute as Borbely notched his first collegiate goal after receiving a pass from
Anthony Romeo.
Colby-Sawyer added six more goals in the opening half to take a convincing 7-0 lead into the break.
Borbely added a pair of assists on top of his opening goal.
Devin Kelly popped off the bench to score two goals while adding an assist.
Kevin Tracy, Jafar, and Romeo each notched a goal and an assist while
Andrew Clothier scored a single marker.
The Chargers added five more goals in the second half with Borbely and Jafar each scoring twice more and
Zach Elmore notching a solo goal. Tracy took on the role of playmaker in the second stanza adding two assists onto the ledger.
Colby-Sawyer outshot the Eagles 39-8 and held an 11-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Sean Babinski and
Jarod Parkins shared the clean sheet in net for the Chargers turning aside just one shot on net. Sawyer Levy was a busy man in the cage for the Eagles stopping 14 shots in defeat.
