NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 10, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team earned a pair of impressive wins on Monday, defeating Franklin Pierce University and Wheaton College. 

The Chargers improve to 2-3 on the season after a 5-4 victory over Franklin Pierce of Division II and a 6-3 triumph over Wheaton. The team will resume action in the spring. 

In the win against the Ravens, the Chargers got off to an important 2-1 start after doubles behind wins from Dean Boodakian and Ryan Sawyer at No. 2 and Ross Kenney and Andrew Peloquin at No. 3. 

Colby-Sawyer and Franklin Pierce then split the six singles matches to give the Chargers the required five points to clinch the match. Alex Wright breezed to a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top flight, while Boodakian and Ryan Broderick won at No. 3 and No. 5 in straight sets. 

The Chargers again jumped out to an early lead against Wheaton by winning two of the three doubles matches. The top duo of Alex Wright and Gustav Jigrup came away with an 8-4 win, while Dean Boodakian and Ryan Sawyer teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 2. 

Jigrup, Wright, Boodakian and Ryan Broderick each won singles matches in straight sets to give the Chargers their second win of the day.
