DUDLEY, Mass. - September 25, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team earned its seventh straight victory after defeating Nichols College 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Chargers, who have wins over three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) teams this year (Nichols, Endicott, Gordon), improve to 9-1 and will travel to Mass. College of Liberal Arts on Wednesday to resume North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division play. The Bison drop to 6-4 on the season.
Colby-Sawyer swept all three doubles matches behind strong play at No. 1 by
Ashlyn Ramsay and
Ashley Woodside (8-1), at No. 2 by
Aislinn O'Connor and
Evelyn Miller (8-4) and at No. 3 by
Maddy Gemerek and
Lauren Blanchard.
Evelyn Miller did not drop a game in her straight sets win at No. 4.
Ashley Woodside,
Aislinn O'Connor and
Lauren Blanchard came away with straight set victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Ashlyn Ramsay won the first set 6-2, but dropped the second 6-3. She rebounded nicely and cruised in the third set 6-0 to win the match.
