FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis team began the season 2-0 for the first time since 2010 after Wednesday's 9-0 win at Farmingdale State.
Colby-Sawyer hosts its first of three straight home matches this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Merrimack. Farmingdale State drops to 0-1.
In doubles competition,
Ashlyn Ramsay (Barkhamsted, Conn.) and
Ashley Woodside (Hampden, Maine) earned an 8-0 victory over Tatiana Rosamilia (Malverne, N.Y.) and Priscilla Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) in the first position. In second doubles,
Aislinn O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn.) and
Evelyn Miller (Smithfield, R.I.) edged Denise Liguori (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Michelle Fredericks (Farmingdale, N.Y.), 8-6, while
Maddy Gemerek (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and
Lauren Blanchard (Agawam, Mass.) dispatched Carolann La Monica (Islip, N.Y.) and Madison Schrader (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) 8-1 in third doubles.
The Chargers swept the six singles matches en route to the 9-0 non-conference win.
