CASTINE, Maine – September 19, 2015 - Colby-Sawyer junior
Rick Prindiville (Hooksett, N.H.) scored the lone goal of the match in Saturday's 1-0 men's soccer victory at Maine Maritime Academy, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener, on Saturday night at Ritchie Field.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will face another tough test on Tuesday when they travel to Middlebury. Maine Maritime drops to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Rick Prindiville scored the would-be game-winner for the Chargers, just 18 minutes into the game to give Colby-Sawyer the NAC victory.
The Mariners were led offensively by Jonathan Reeks (Bedford, N.H.) and Kyle Haslam (Lamoine, Maine), who registered three shots each.
Denali Sexton (Barrington, R.I.) had three shots for the Chargers.
Sean Babinski (Concord, Calif.) stopped all four shots he faced in net in the victory for the Chargers.
Coach Wilkinson's postgame remarks:I am very happy with the result. Traveling six hours and then playing a very tough team and leaving with a clean sheet and three points are massive. It's a great way to start conference play.
I saw some good things from us going forward, but there are still a lot of room for improvement. I know we can play quicker and sharper especially in the final third, our decision making needs to be quicker.
We knew we had to be tight defensively and be mindful of the long ball especially the long diagonal ball and we did a great job of dealing with that. I am extremely happy with my back four and especially Babinski in goal.
My Man of the Match has to go to
Adam Borbely. He was immense in the middle and won so many 50/50's. It was also nice getting
Dylan West back after being out for a bit with an injury.
