JOHNSON, Vt. - September 16, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team defeated Johnson State College, 9-0 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division match on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Colby-Sawyer will compete at the Grass Court Doubles Tournament hosted by Salve Regina on Saturday. The Chargers won last year's tournament for the second time and first since 1996.
The Badgers fall to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the NEAC.
Ashlyn Ramsay and
Maddy Gemerek did not drop a game at No. 1 doubles, while
Evelyn Miller and
Aislinn O'Connor also came away with an 8-0 win at No. 2.
Lauren Blanchard and
Christine Hill combined for an 8-4 victory at third doubles.
The Chargers received straight sets victories in each of the singles slots.
Abbie Rix earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory in her season debut.
