PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - September 12, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell at Plattsburgh State, 8-1 on the first day of the Best Western/Ground Round Cardinal Classic. 

The Chargers will play Nazareth on Sunday at noon in the consolation match. Nazareth lost to Mount St. Mary 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. Plattsburgh State improves to 5-0 and will host Mount St. Mary in the championship match at 2:30 p.m. 

Colby-Sawyer got on the board first at 6:42 on a goal from Zach Elmore. Denali Sexton set up the play and earned his team leading fourth assist of the season. 

The lead was short lived as the Cardinals knotted the contest 12 seconds laters. The home team added three more first half goals to take a 4-1 lead at the break. 

Plattsburgh State scored four more times in the second to win 8-1.
