Men's Soccer Defeats Nazareth, 3-1

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - September 13, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team defeated Nazareth, 3-1 in Sunday's Best Western/Ground Round Cardinal Classic consolation match. 

Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-3 and will continue its five-match road trip on Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Curry. Nazareth dips to 0-5. 

The Chargers scored a pair of goals in the first and outshot the Golden Flyers 12-1. Andrew Clothier opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when his shot went off the inside post and into the back of the net for his first of the season. 

Six minutes later, Colby-Sawyer doubled its lead as a pass across the box found the feet of Jake Sykes for his first collegiate tally. Denali Sexton recorded his team leading fifth assist of the season. 

Nazareth was able to draw to within one goal in the 55th minute as the Golden Flyers found the net. Yacov Zohn cashed in off a header after an initial shot from Dylan Toscano came off the crossbar.

The Chargers added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute when Clothier sent a cross into the box. Rick Prindiville headed the ball inside the far post for his first goal of the season. 

Andrew Clothier was named to the All-Tournament team. 

For the game, the Chargers outshot the Golden Flyers 17-8.
