NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 12, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over the visiting Terriers of Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division action on Sunday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer evens its record to 8-8 and improves to 5-0 in NAC play. The Chargers will host Wheaton and Green Mountain next weekend. Thomas drops to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Terriers will host Green Mountain and MCLA to conclude the regular season next weekend.
The Chargers swept doubles play behind strong efforts from all three teams. The top duo of
Cass McCann and
Rico Bailey earned a hard fought 8-5 win over Eric Morin and Tyler Small. At No. 2 doubles,
Justin Pinard and
Andrew Peloquin teamed for an 8-2 victory over Zachary Disch and Joseph Greco. Colby-Sawyer's
Dean Boodakian and
Will Triebel dispatched Caleb Cough and Jonte Roussel, 8-1 at third doubles.
McCann, Peloquin and Boodakian each won their singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory for the Chargers.
Ryan Broderick and
Clay Allen also won in straight sets at the fourth and sixth flights, respectively.
Thomas' lone point came from Tyler Small at No. 2 singles. Small defeated Bailey 6-1, 6-1.
