HANOVER, N.H. – March 27, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team fell to Southern Maine, 6-3 on Friday afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center on the campus of Dartmouth College.
Southern Maine improves to 4-2 and will host UMass Boston tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. for a Little East Conference (LEC) opener. The Chargers fall to 3-8 and will begin North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. against Lyndon. The match will also take place at the Boss Tennis Center.
The Huskies took a 2-1 lead after doubles and won four of the six singles matches to clinch their second straight win of the season.
Tyler Adams and Scott Gagne took the top doubles match over
Cass McCann and
Rico Bailey, 8-1, while Thaddeaus St. John and Kyle Curley won second doubles, 8-0 over
Justin Pinard and
Andrew Peloquin. Colby-Sawyer's
Sergio Spassof and
Dean Boodakian got the Chargers in the win column with an 8-2 win at third doubles over Sebastian Taylor and Joseph Gagliardi.
Boodakian also won his singles match without dropping a game in the sixth slot.
Ryan Broderick gave Colby-Sawyer its third point of the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles.
Tyler Adams won the afternoon's top match over
Cass McCann 6-2, 6-2 while Scott Gagne defeated
Rico Bailey in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at the second flight.
Kyle Curley downed
Andrew Peloquin at third singles 6-4, 6-2.
St. John outlasted
Sergio Spassof at No. 4 with a 6-2 first set win and 7-6 (15-13).
