NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 28, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team erased a two goal deficit to come from behind and defeat Plymouth State, 3-2 on a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon.   

Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-6 and will host a North Atlantic Conference quarterfinal contest on Sunday at 1 p.m. against UMaine-Farmington. The Panthers drop to 8-6-1 and will conclude the regular season on Saturday with a Little East Conference match at UMass Boston.

Plymouth struck early when senior Petro Masumbuko (Manchester, N.H.) finished a cross from junior Graham Hughes (Billerica, Mass.) 2:46 into the match.

The score would be 1-0 in favor of the Panthers for the next 58 minutes until they doubled their lead at 60:54 when senior Ted Karlstrand (Halmstad, Sweden) scored on a put back off a goalie save.

Colby-Sawyer broke through 25 seconds later to pull within a goal. Sophomore Jake Sykes (Laconia, N.H.) tallied his fourth goal of the season off a cross from junior Andrew Clothier (Matamata, New Zealand).

Clothier found the equalizer in the 75th minute after a Plymouth defender failed to clear the ball to safety.

The game-winner came off the foot of Colby-Sawyer freshman Matt Schiller (Slingerlands, N.Y.) at 79:12. Fellow freshman Cody Kostrzebski (Gansevoort, N.Y.) played a ball back to the top of the 18-yard box where Schiller was racing down the middle of the pitch and ripped a shot into the right corner of the net for his first collegiate game-winner.

Freshman goalie Shane Sacks (Huntington Station, N.Y.) improved to 6-1 on the season and made seven saves in the win. PSU sophomore goalie James Mansour (Auburn, N.H.) played the first half and made two saves without allowing a goal. Senior Danny Marsh (Farmington, Conn.) was saddled with the loss after making three saves.
