NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 20, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell at Castleton, 2-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Tuesday evening at Spartan Stadium.
Castleton improves to 11-5-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Spartans will conclude the NAC regular season this weekend with home matches against Husson and Maine Maritime.
Colby-Sawyer suffers its first loss in seven matches and falls to 9-6 overall and 7-1 in the NAC. The Chargers will host intrastate rival New England College on Saturday in a NAC regular season finale.
The first goal of the contest came off a free kick from Castleton junior Paul Phillips (Hope Valley, R.I.) at 66:04. Phillips took the kick from 35 yards out and sent the ball to the far left corner of, which snuck inside the post.
The Spartans went in front 2-0, less than two minutes later, when senior Jake Tietgens (Stamford, Vt.) finished an initial shot from Phillips that was mishandled by the goalie.
Castleton held a 15-6 advantage in first half shots despite most of the frame being played in the middle third.

Noah Camelo (Marblehead, Mass.) had the first real scoring chance of the match in the 54
th minute. Camelo was found streaking down the middle of the pitch and took a shot from the top of the 18-yard box, but was denied by a sprawling save from Castleton senior goalie Amir Pasic (Burlington, Vt.).
