NORTON, Mass. – September 13, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team had its three-game winning streak snapped after a 3-0 loss at Wheaton in non-league action at Nordin Field.

Junior Kelsey Harris (Spencer, Mass.) netted a pair of goals – both coming off  redirections – for her first multi-goal game of her career and also added one assist to fuel Wheaton's offense on the afternoon. Sophomore Darci Bruce (Walpole, Mass.) found the back of the net in between Harris' tallies at the 28:53 mark for her fourth of goal the year to round out the scoring.

Wheaton senior goalkeeper Madison Wolters (Marstons Mills, Mass.) stopped six shots to improve to 5-1 in the cage for the Lyons. First-year Kyla Teeters (Middletown, R.I.) recorded one save off the bench in 5:12 of action.

Colby-Sawyer junior goalkeeper Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) turned away a season-high 22 shots in the loss (3-4). Senior forward Nykki Stritzinger (Bel Air, Md.) paced the Chargers offensively with eight shots including five on goal.

Dumayne stood tall in net for the visitors in the first half with ten saves before Harris finally broke open the shutout by redirecting a hard shot by first-year Katie Peters (Medway, Mass.) from the top of the circle. Wheaton sophomore Michelle Trainor (Amesbury, Mass.) initiated the tally by deking a defender just outside the top of the circle and feeding Peters for a wide open shot before Harris redirected the shot past Dumayne.

After Bruce made it 2-0 at the 28:53 mark with a deflection on Harris' shot from the wing, Dumayne continued her strong play in net with 11 saves in the second half including a stop on a penalty stroke by Wheaton sophomore Holly Norberg (Walpole, Mass.) at 58:16. Norberg sniped a shot towards the right goal post, but Dumayne dove and deflected the ball off the post and out of the cage to keep the deficit at 2-0.

Harris eventually added the insurance goal for the Lyons at 64:47 redirecting Bruce's shot into the cage for her second goal of the game. Wheaton outshot Colby-Sawyer 42-14 and also held a 15-4 margin in penalty corners.

Wheaton (5-1) hosts Wellesley College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on Saturday, September 20 at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer (3-4) hosts Becker College next Saturday at 1 p.m. Today marked the first-ever meeting between Wheaton and Colby-Sawyer.
