Wol Majong Scores 24 in 91-51 Win over Maine Maritime

Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 7, 2014 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team cruised to a 91-51 victory over Maine Maritime in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Friday evening.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-8 overall and 10-3 in conference play. The Chargers will host the league's top team Husson at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. Maine Maritime falls to 1-19 overall and 0-13 in the NAC. The Mariners will travel down I-89 for a 3:00 p.m. Saturday meeting at New England College.

The first several minutes of the game went back and forth and the visitors held a 13-11 edge after a Brian Goda (Portsmouth, N.H.) jumper with 12:16 on the clock. The Chargers then found the shooting touch over the next five minutes scoring the next 17 points to take a 28-13 lead. Colby-Sawyer continued to force turnovers and widened its lead to 20 at the break, 46-26. The Mariners shot 50 percent in the first half, but had 21 miscues, which turned into 22 Colby-Sawyer points. 

Colby-Sawyer continued to build its advantage in the second frame and took its largest lead of 43 at the 8:37 mark.

The Chargers finished the game with 35 points off 37 Mariner turnovers.

Sophomore Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.) led all players with 24 points in 18 minutes on 9-11 shooting, including 6-7 from beyond the arc. Junior Mike Dias (Carver, Mass.) added 14 points and sophomore Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) scored 13. Junior Kyle Nelson (Milford, N.H.) was the fourth Charger to reach double figures with 11 points.

Maine Maritime was led by freshman Dylan Price (Madison, Maine). He scored 13 points and added a team best four thefts. Junior Jason Hatch (Isleboro, Maine) chipped in nine points, while freshman Tyler Gilson (Thomaston, Maine) and junior Tyler Chiasson (Dixfield, Maine) grabbed a game-high seven boards apiece.
