Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. – January 25, 2014 - Four different Chargers would record double-digits leading visiting Colby-Sawyer College past the New England College Pilgrims 71-68 in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Chargers improve to 8-9 on the season and 7-3 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). The loss drops the Pilgrims to 7-9 overall and 4-6 in NAC play.
New England College would jump out to the early 12 point lead up 22-10 just seven minutes into the opening half of play. Colby-Sawyer would respond using a 7-0 run slicing the lead to just five midway through the half. The Pilgrims would battle to rebuild a 10 point lead but again the Chargers would have an answer as they would out score NEC 13-4 over the final three minutes of the half to head into intermission trailing just 37-35.
Colby-Sawyer would grab the lead early in the second half posting the first six points. The two teams would continue to battle back-and-forth through a second half that saw five lead changes and four ties. The Pilgrims trailed 68-67 with 1:33 remaining to play but the Chargers would convert on four straight foul shots in the final minute solidifying the 71-68 victory.
Colby-Sawyer's
Ashley Fruzzetti (Carver, Mass.) led the way for the Chargers finishing with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Colby-Sawyer's
Kelsey Cahill (Cumberland, R.I.) and
Kelsey Bragdon (Wells, Maine) each chipped in 11 points each, while
Kristin Ellis (South East, Mass.) was the other Charger in double-figures with 10 points. Sophomore guard
Katie McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) had an impressive afternoon as well finishing with a game-high nine assists to go along with eight points.
Leading the way for NEC Kayla Lawlor (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) who led all scorers finishing with 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field. NEC's Breana Ramirez (Peterson, N.J.) posted a double-double for the Pilgrims finishing with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Taylor Burgess (Randallstown, Md.) was the only other player in double-figures chipping in 12 points.
NEC returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 28 when they travel to take on non-conference opponent Lasell College. Colby-Sawyer College will hit the court on Friday, Jan. 31 when they travel to take on conference opponent Thomas College.
