Serving as the only head coach in the history of the Colby-Sawyer men’s soccer program, Peter Steese is set to begin his 23rd season with the Chargers.
Over his 22 seasons, Coach Steese has compiled a 182-202-35 record and led the program to a conference championship in 1997. The Chargers have posted 91-62-18 (CCC), 3-5-1 (NAC 2011) conference records under Coach Steese’s direction including a program best 7-3-1 record in the 2000, 2002 and 2007 seasons.
Before taking over the men’s program at Colby-Sawyer, Coach Steese served as the head coach of the women’s program, a position he held for four seasons. He guided the women’s team to a 28-34-4 mark in four years, including their winningest season in school history, an 11-3-1 mark in 1990.
Coach Steese has also served two three-year terms as chair of the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Honors Committee and as The Commonwealth Coast Conference liaison to the NCAA Division III Selection Committee. Peter also has been on the ECAC selection committee for seven years. He has also been a staff coach for the New Hampshire Olympic Development program for the past 23 years. In the summer of 2011, Steese was an instructor at the EXACT Soccer National College Development Clinic. Coach Steese also founded the Unitor Soccer School in 1990 and the Greater Kearsarge Soccer Club in 1996.
Coach Steese, a 1974 graduate of the University of Maryland, holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier National Diploma and a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National B license. Coach Steese earned a Masters Degree from the University of Maryland in German Literature.
Coach Steese also serves as the Head Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach, a position he has held for the past 15 years.
Coach Steese, his wife Cheryl and his three daughters Cameron, Julia and Georgia, reside in Wilmot, N.H.
