Dan Kaigler

Head Coach Dan Kaigler of the Colby-Sawyer men's basketball program enters his fourth season as a Colby-Sawyer Charger for the 2024-25 basketball season. Kaigler became just the third head coach in program history, taking the reins from Bill Foti, who piloted the Chargers program for the past 29 seasons.

Kaigler ended his third year for the Chargers with a 9-17 overall record and a 5-9 GNAC record. The Chargers season concluded in the GNAC Play-In round falling to Rivier.

In year two, Kaigler finished the season with a 10-16 overall record and a 7-10 GNAC record. The Chargers season concluded in the GNAC Quartefinals falling to Albertus Magnus.

In his first season, Kaigler led his team to a 9-15 overall record and 6-11 in the GNAC conference. Collecting his first win as a head coach in his very first game with the Chargers, Kaigler and his team made it to the conference play-in for the 2021-22 season.

Kaigler came to Colby-Sawyer after spending his last season as the top assistant at the University of Rochester in New York. While at Rochester, Kaigler helped guide the Yellow Jackets through a COVID-19 shortened season that finished with a record of 4-2.  Prior to Rochester, Kaigler was an assistant at his alma mater Le Moyne College for the 2018-19 season. While with the Dolphins, he was tasked with a number of duties, including recruiting, skill development, and film breakdown. Kaigler was an assistant on a Le Moyne team that ended the season with a 18-10 record, including a 14-6 NE10 record. This record was good enough for a DII NCAA Tournament appearance.

As a three-year student-athlete at Le Moyne, Kaigler averaged 7.2 points and 3.5 rebounds a game. He appeared in 87 games for the Dolphins, including 10 starts. The Syracuse, N.Y. native was a part of three NCAA appearances and one NE10 conference championship. The Dolphins also were NCAA East Regional champions in 2017-18. He also spent his first season playing for Gannon University where he and the rest of the Golden Knights won the PSAC title and made an NCAA Tournament appearance.
