THREE-GOAL FIRST HALF LIFTS MEN'S SOCCER OVER FITCHBURG STATE

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team built an insurmountable first-half lead on Tuesday afternoon, holding off a late charge from Fitchburg State University to secure a 3-2 non-conference victory at Kelsey Field.

Rapid Recap:

  • Colby-Sawyer set the tone immediately, finding the back of the net just 4:57 into the match. First-year Caleb Gelineau (Nashua, N.H.) fed first-year Hunter Joseph (Merrimack, N.H.), who tucked away his second goal of the season to give the Chargers a 1-0 advantage.

  • The Chargers doubled their lead late in the opening half when senior Kaden Lewis (Lunenburg, Mass.) broke through the Falcons' back line and buried an unassisted strike at 36:15 for his first tally of the campaign.

  • Less than four minutes later, junior Colin Riley-Perec (Plymouth, Mass.) extended the margin to 3-0, capitalizing on an unassisted chance at 39:56 to send Colby-Sawyer into the intermission in complete control.

  • Fitchburg State mounted a second-half response behind Jake Richard, who struck twice within a two-minute window. Richard first finished a feed from Georgios Spyrou at 70:44 before converting a setup from Alejandro Pimentel at 72:24 to trim the deficit to 3-2.

  • The Chargers' defensive back line locked down over the final 17 minutes, turning away every Falcon advance to secure the non-conference victory.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Joseph registered his second goal of the 2026 campaign, netting his second score in as many games.

  • Lewis recorded his first goal of the season, adding to his team-leading assist mark after setting up two scores in the previous contest.

  • Riley-Perec collected his second goal of the year, while Gelineau picked up his first assist of the fall.

  • The victory pushes Colby-Sawyer back to .500 on the season with a 4-4-2 overall record.
