NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team earned a 2-1 conference victory over New England College on Tuesday afternoon at Kelsey Field.

Colby-Sawyer set the tone early in the first half, striking at the 22:17 mark. Junior Colin Riley-Perec (Plymouth, Mass.) connected with senior defender Judson DiMaria (Acton, Mass.), who finished a header across the net, and past the goalkeeper to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead.

Just over seven minutes later, the Chargers doubled their advantage. First-year midfielder Alejandro Saucedo (Longview, Texas) created space and buried an unassisted strike at 29:47 to push the margin to 2-0 heading into the intermission.

The Pilgrims responded with offensive pressure in the second half, cutting into the deficit in the 75th minute when Lukas McGuire found the back of the net off a feed from Amit Solomon at 74:01.

New England College continued to press forward down the stretch, but the Colby-Sawyer defensive back line and first-year goalkeeper Trenton Mikulanis (San Diego, Cali.) stood firm to thwart the Pilgrims' late chances and lock down the 2-1 decision.

Mikulanis recorded a strong 90 minutes between the posts, stopping eight of the nine shots on target he faced to earn his second victory in net this fall.

Sophomore Landon Blanco (Boca Raton, Fla.) paced the Chargers' shot count with three attempts (one on goal), while Saucedo placed both of his bids on frame.
