New London, NH – The Chargers hosted a non-conference doubleheader against the Plymouth State Panthers on Thursday. The Chargers won both games, as first year Jacob Putnam (North Haverhill, NH) hit a home run in each game. 

Game 1 Rapid Recap: 

• Anthony DeMarco (Danielson, CT) started on the mound for the Chargers, and Ross Tine started on the mound for the Panthers. 

• Ray Campbell hit an RBI sac fly for the Panthers in the 1st to give the guests a 1-0 lead. Login Desrochers hit an RBI single for the Panthers to make it a 2-0 game.  

• In the top of the 2nd, Andrew Flaherty and Brendan Flynn both hit RBI singles to add two more runs to the Panther run total. The Panthers scored two more before the bottom of the 2nd. 

• The Chargers worked the comeback in the bottom of the 2nd, as Noah Staffier (Beverly, MA) scored. Putnam hit an RBI single. Later, Jared Schmitt (Surry, NH) scored. Mike McLeer (Saco, ME) hit a 2 RBI single, and Jesse Chaves (Taunton, MA) hit an RBI single. The two teams were even at 6-6 after the 2nd. 

• Owen Webber hit an RBI double in the 3rd for the Panthers. Putnam and Evan Dennis (East Ryegate, VT) both earned RBIs in the 3rd, to give the Chargers their first lead of the game. 

• Campbell and Maddox Turck both hit Plymouth State RBIs in the 4th inning. Desrochers scored for the Panthers in the 4th to give the Panthers a 10-8 lead. 

• Janai Cruz (Manchester, NH) earned an RBI in the 4th inning for the Chargers. The Chargers offense continued to score in the 4th inning. Staffier scored a run, McLeer hit an RBI sac fly, Sean Roeger (Salem, NH) hit an RBI single, and Chaves hit a 2 RBI single. The Chargers led 14-10 after four innings. 

• Owen Webber scored in the 5th for the Panthers. 

• In the 6th inning, Putnam hit a home run for the Chargers and McLeer hit a three-run home run. The Chargers scored 10 total runs in the 6th. 

• The Chargers won 24-11 in game 1. 

Game 1 Inside the Numbers: 

• DeMarco, Brady Young (Stratham, NH), and Oscar Nelson (Bath, ME) all pitched for the Chargers. Young earned the win to go 1-1 on the year. 

• McLeer earned six RBIs which puts the senior at 4th in the program record books for single game RBIs. 

• Putnam, McLeer, Dennis, Roeger, and Chaves all had three hits in game 1. 

• Desrochers was 3-4 from the plate for the Panthers. 

• The Chargers combined for 17 hits. 

Game 2 Rapid Recap: 

• Noah Corliss (Sanford, ME) started on the mound for the Chargers, and Cash Alexander started on the mound for the Panthers. 

• In the bottom of the 1st, McLeer hit an RBI sac fly to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. 

• Joey Dronzank tied the game with an RBI double for the Panthers in the top of the 2nd. 

• With the bases loaded, Putnam hit a grand slam to give the Chargers a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. Later in the inning, Dennis hit an RBI double to extend the Charger lead by a run. 

• In the 3rd, Devin Montalvo (Coram, NY) hit an RBI double into left field for Colby-Sawyer. Watson also hit an RBI double into left field for the Chargers. The Chargers led 8-1 after three innings. 

• Flynn scored a run for the Panthers in the top of the 6th. In the next at bat, Cam Manning hit an RBI sac fly into left field.  

• The Chargers won 8-3 in game 2. 

Game 2 Inside the Numbers: 

• Corliss, Hayden Goerlich (Amherst, NH), and Simon Keary (Penacook, NH) all pitched for the Chargers. Corliss threw five strikeouts and earned the win to go 1-0 on the season. 

• Putnam, Dennis, and Montalvo all had two hits for the Chargers. 

• Campbell was 3-3 from the plate for the Panthers. 

• The Chargers combined for eight hits.
