Fitchburg, MA – Another six-goal performance from Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ) and 13 total goals from the Chargers helped the Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team improve to 3-0 on the season. The Chargers played Fitchburg State University on Wednesday afternoon.

Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, NH) assisted Vignola to give the Chargers an early 1-0 lead. The Falcons tied the game 1-1, as Noelle Kennedy assisted Jessica St. George. About two minutes later, Paige Marchand assisted Hannah Azzari to put the Falcons up 2-1. About a minute later, Nola Patty scored the third Falcon goal of the game. But the Chargers responded with three more goals before the end of the quarter. Vignola scored two of the three goals and Reese Holcomb (Essex Junction, VT) scored one of the goals. Finlayson recorded two of the assists, while Elena Bronson (Monkton, VT) assisted Vignola's last goal of the half. Vignola was on a hat trick before the end of the quarter, and the Chargers led 4-3 with three quarters to go.

Kiley McFadden assisted Samantha Azzari for a Falcon goal to tie the game 4-4. Bronson added a goal to the Chargers' scoreline and soon after assisted Vignola to give Colby-Sawyer a 6-4 lead. Samantha Azzari assisted Hannah Azzari for Fitchburg State. Finlayson and Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, NH) both scored goals to put the Chargers up 8-5 with 47 seconds left in the half. The Falcons scored the next goal as McFadden assisted Patty. With a second to go in the half, Bronson scored another goal to make it a 9-6 Charger lead going into the halftime break.

After a little more than 90 seconds into the second half, Ponzini assisted Grace Joly (Windham, ME) to put the Chargers up 10-6. Nevaeh Chiacchia scored two goals for the Falcons. Kennedy assisted the first goal, while St. George assisted the second goal. Vignola scored from a free position shot for the Chargers. Kennedy assisted Layne Thompson for a Falcon goal. The Chargers led 11-9 with one quarter to go.
