MEN'S TENNIS ENDS DAY TWO IN ORLANDO WITH TRIPLE HEADER

Orlando, FL – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team played three matches on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida. Tuesday marked the first day that the Chargers played matches during their spring trip. The Chargers played against Edgewood College, George Fox University, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. 

Rapid Recap Game 1: 

  • The Chargers started the day with an 8:30am match with Edgewood College. The Chargers won all three doubles games to win the doubles point. Zsombor Homonnay (Budapest, Hungary) and Peyton Meuse (Newport, NH) won 6-1 at #1 doubles. 

  • Homonnay won at #1 singles 6-0, 6-1. At #2 singles, Max Biedermann (Stowe, VT) earned a point for the Chargers by winning the match in consecutive sets 6-1, 6-2. 

  • At #4 singles, Oliver Van Hattum (Bunnik, Netherlands) won 6-4, 6-3. Caiden McManus (Wallingford, CT) won 6-4, 6-2 at #5 singles. The Chargers won the match 5-2. 

Rapid Recap Game 2: 

  • The second match of the day was at 4:30pm against George Fox University. The Bruins won the doubles point. 

  • Peyton Meuse forced a third set at #3 singles, after winning the first set 6-4. But the Bruins would win the match against the Chargers 7-0. 

Rapid Recap Game 3: 

  • The last match of the day for the Chargers was against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 6:30pm. Oliver Gore (Southend by the Sea, United Kingdom) and Ashton Meuse (Newport, NH) won 6-4 at #2 doubles, but the Blugolds won the doubles point. 

  • In the third set, Homonnay won at #2 singles for the Chargers. Gore won at #4 singles 6-4, 6-3 for Colby-Sawyer. The Blugolds won the match 5-2. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers play two matches on Wednesday. In the morning, they will play the University of Scranton. Later in the day, the Chargers will play Franklin & Marshall College.
