WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS ANOTHER GNAC IN PLAYOFF PUSH

West Hartford, CT – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team notched their 4th GNAC win of the season on Saturday against the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) and Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) both scored early baskets in the first quarter. Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) and MacDonald both scored layups to put the Chargers up 8-4. With 5:28 left in the quarter, Leonard scored a layup followed by a three from MacDonald. MacDonald, Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH), and Grillone all scored buckets. The Chargers had a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. 

  • Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) scored a jump shot a minute into the second quarter. MacDonald and Leonard each made a layup. Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT) and Leonard both scored a bucket to close out the half. A Charger lead of 36-22 was the score at the half. 

  • Mitchell and MacDonald both made layups in quarter number three. MacDonald and Fellows both converted buckets. Mitchell made a layup followed by a three from Raymond. The Chargers led 51-40 with one quarter to go. 

  • Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) and MacDonald both made layups in the fourth. Mitchell added a layup to the score. The Chargers won 69-59. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • MacDonald led the scoring for the Chargers with a career-high 23-point performance. 

  • Leonard scored 15 points on the day. 

  • Mitchell recorded a double-double, having scored 11 points and recorded 12 rebounds. 

  • Ella Kulas led the scoring for the Blue Jays with 26 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 38 points in the paint.

The Chargers will play their next game hosting Regis on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
