Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BATTLES WITH SECOND SEEDED REGIS AT HOME

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team took on the Regis Pride on Wednesday evening at the Hogan Sports Center. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) and Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) each converted a layup in the first quarter. The Pride had the lead after the quarter. 

  • Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) made a layup at the beginning of the second quarter. Shortly after, Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) drained one from three-point range. Drury and Leonard were on the score sheet again as both scored layups. Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) and Drury scored layups, as the Chargers trailed by two with less than a minute left in the half. Drury drained a three with 34 seconds left in the half. The Pride led 26-25 at the half. 

  • Mitchell and Leonard both scored layups in the third quarter to tie the game up at 30. Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) made two buckets. Leonard drained another three for the Chargers. The Pride led 51-45 with one quarter remaining. 

  • Drury scored a layup early in the fourth. MacDonald made two consecutive buckets. Mitchell scored a layup with less than four minutes left. Drury, Fellows, and Mitchell each made a bucket as the Chargers trailed by 10 with 1:42 to go. Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) added a layup to the score. Leonard added another three. The Pride won the game 76-66. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Drury led the scoring for the Chargers with 15 points. 

  • Fellows scored 14 points and was 10-11 from the free-throw line. 

  • Leonard ended the game on 14 points. 

  • Mitchell recorded a double-double. Mitchell scored 11 points and recorded 10 rebounds. 

  • Jordyn Striggles led the scoring for the Pride with 21 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 32 points in the paint. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will travel to Standish, Maine on Saturday to play Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 1pm.
