Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls to Monks on the Road

Standish, ME – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team played against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday afternoon. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT) made a three early in the game for the Chargers. The Monks went on a 10-0 run. The Monks had the lead after the first quarter. 

  • Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) made a three for the Chargers in the second quarter. Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) and Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) both added layups for the Chargers. Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) and Mitchell both made layups in the last two minutes of the half. The Monks led 46-16 at the half. 

  • Mitchell scored the first points of the second half by making a jumper. Molly Denis (Plattsburgh, NY) drained a three. Mitchell scored four layups in the last four minutes of the third quarter. The Monks led with one quarter to go. 

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) and Mitchell both made jumpers in the beginning of the fourth quarter. MacDonald and Mitchell added to the score again, as both made layups. Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) drained a three with 4:03 left in the game. MacDonald and Chick each made a basket with less than two minutes to go in the game. The Monks won 93-48. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Mitchell led the scoring for the Chargers with 19 points. Mitchell shot 90% from the field. 

  • MacDonald scored seven points and had three assists. 

  • Chick recorded stats in five categories (5 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block). 

  • Elisabeth Stapelfeld led the scoring for the Monks with 26 points. 

  • The Chargers scordd 30 points in the paint. 

Up Next: 

With two games left in the regular season, the Chargers will next travel to Newton, Massachusetts to play Lasell University on Tuesday evening.
