Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO NORWICH

Northfield, VT – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team competed against the Norwich Cadets on Tuesday in a GNAC matchup. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) drained two threes early in the first quarter followed by a three from Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) to put the Chargers up 10-9. MacDonald scored a layup to close the first quarter. The Chargers led 12-11 after quarter number one. 

  • A seven-point Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) run, saw the junior score two layups and a three early in the second quarter. About half a minute later, Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) scored a jumper. Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) and Drury both scored from beyond the arc. Leonard added another one from three-point range. MacDonald and Drury both scored buckets before the end of the half. Going into the halftime intermission, the Chargers led 36-29. 

  • One basket from Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) and two baskets from MacDonald kept the Chargers ahead 42-36 with 6:37 left in the quarter. Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) made a three-pointer. The Cadets led 49-46 with one quarter of basketball left to play. 

  • Drury made a jumper with 5:34 left in the game. A little less than a minute later, Chick made a layup. The Cadets won the match 66-50. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • MacDonald led the scoring for the Chargers with 14 points. MacDonald also recorded nine rebounds on Tuesday. 

  • Drury ended the game with 13 points and four assists. 

  • Chick scored nine points in the matchup. 

  • Cassidy Kittredge led the scoring for the Cadets with 21 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 20 points in the paint. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will stay on the road this weekend when they face off against the University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut at 1pm.
