WOMEN'S LACROSSE OPENS SEASON WITH ELECTRIC WIN OVER CLARK

Worcester, MA – With the help of six goals from Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, NJ), the Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team opened their 2026 campaign with a win on Saturday away at Clark University. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, NH) assisted Vignola for the first Charger goal of the 2026 season almost 10 minutes into the game.  

  • In the second quarter, Vignola scored from a free-position shot to put the Chargers up by two. Jasmine Peters scored Clark's first goal of the game, which was assisted by Meghan Fogarty. Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, NH) and Elena Bronson (Monkton, VT) both scored to put the Chargers up 4-0. Grace Joly (Windham, ME) assisted Madeline Knight (Pownal, ME) for goal number five. Reese Holcomb (Essex Junction, VT) scored from a free-position shot to put the Chargers up 6-1 going into the halftime break. 

  • Vignola scored two goals in the third quarter, with Finlayson assisting the second of the two. 

  • Peters scored Clark's second goal of the game. Finlayson assisted Holcomb for the Charger's 9th of the game. Almost three minutes later, Bronson assisted Ponzini. Bronson recorded another assist moments later, as Vignola scored another. Peters scored the third of the game for Clark, followed by Elizabeth Cacciapaglia assisting Meghan Fogarty for Clark's fourth goal. With less than four minutes in the game, Ponzini assisted Joly. Less than a minute after that, Joly assisted Vignola for the final goal of the game. The Chargers won 13-4. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Vignola scored six on Saturday to be tied for third for the Individual Game Goal record in Colby-Sawyer history. 

  • Peters scored three goals for Clark. 

  • The Chargers recorded 28 ground balls. 

Up Next: 

The next game for the Chargers will be on Saturday for their home opener against Salve Regina at 12pm.
