MEN'S SOCCER FALLS UNDER THE LIGHTS TO MASS. MARITIME

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 non-conference decision to Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday evening under the lights at Kelsey Field.

Rapid Recap:

  • Mass. Maritime struck early in the contest, opening the scoring at the 4:32 mark when Chase Bowman linked up with Brody Calvert to give the Buccaneers a 1-0 advantage.

  • The Buccaneers expanded their lead early in the second half. John Burke fed Patrick Moore Jr. for a finish at 50:23, before Jack Turmel converted a setup from Calvert at 59:55 to push the deficit to 3-0.

  • Colby-Sawyer continued to battle down the stretch and broke through in the 89th minute. First-year Mateo Siguenza sent a cross into the box to senior Coby Youngman, who buried his first goal of the season at 88:58 to put the Chargers on the board before time expired.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Youngman recorded his first tally of the 2026 campaign with the late strike.

  • Siguenza registered his first asisst on the season, picking up the primary assist on Youngman's goal.

  • First-year goalkeeper Trenton Mikulanis posted a busy night between the posts, stopping 11 shots—six in the first half and five in the second—to keep the Chargers within striking distance against a heavy Buccaneers attack.

Up Next:

The Chargers (4-6-2, 2-3-1 GNAC) return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday, October 10, traveling to West Hartford, Conn. to square off against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) with kickoff slated for 12:00 PM.
