New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team returns to action in the new year on Saturday, as the Chargers travel to Paxton, Massachusetts to take on the AMCATS of Anna Maria College.

Saturday marks a week before the Chargers begin GNAC conference play at Emmanuel. The Chargers have traveled around New England and New York for their non-conference schedule, with this one being the last non-conference matchup on the road for the Chargers this regular season.

This will be the fourth straight game against a GNAC opponent for the AMCATS, as they have previously played Saint Joseph Connecticut, Mitchell, and New England College. This will be the last non-conference matchup of the season for the AMCATS before they continue MASCAC conference play for the rest of the regular season.

The Chargers:

  • Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) – The sophomore guard is the scoring leader for the Chargers averaging 11.2 points per game, scoring 10+ in two of the last three games.

  • Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) – The first-year guard is averaging 11.1 points per game and is shooting 48.9% from three-point range.

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) – The sophomore guard is averaging 10.5 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game.

The AMCATS:

  • Arianna Gonzalez – The junior guard is averaging 9.6 points per game for the AMCATS and has scored 10+ in four games this season.

  • Tiffany Salazar – Salazar is averaging 9.6 points per game and is coming off a season-high 20-point performance against New England College.

  • Sarah O'Connor – The junior forward is averaging 8.3 rebounds per game and 8.4 points per game.

The Historical Matchup:

The two teams last played each other last February in Paxton, Massachusetts with the AMCATS winning the matchup. The Chargers are 24-6 against the AMCATS historically. Over the past four meetings, each team has won twice.

Looking Ahead:

The Chargers will return to the Hogan Sports Center on Wednesday, January 7 as they will play against Mount Holyoke College.
