CHARGERS PICK UP SEVENTEEN POINT CONFERENCE WIN OVER RAIDERS

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team improved to 2-3 in the GNAC with a win against Rivier on Wednesday evening at the Hogan Sports Center. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) three and layup opened the scoring account for the Chargers as they took a 5-0 lead. Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) and Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) both converted layups for the Chargers. Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) drained a three as the Chargers ended the first quarter leading 12-9. 

  • MacDonald scored a three and a layup early in the second quarter. Chick drained a three and Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) made two layups. The Chargers entered the halftime break ahead 26-14. 

  • Mitchell scored two early layups in the third quarter. Drury scored a three with 6:39 to go in the quarter. MacDonald made two layups, then Leonard made a shot from three-point range. The Chargers led after three quarters.  

  • Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) scored a layup and a three in the beginning moments of quarter number four. Chick made two layups for the Chargers. The Chargers won the match 58-41. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Mitchell earned a double-double by scoring 13 points and recording 14 rebounds. 

  • Chick ended the game on 12 points and nine rebounds.  

  • MacDonald scored 11 points on Wednesday evening. 

  • Gianna Donato led the scoring for the Raiders with 13 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 26 points in the paint. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will play their final match of their three-game home stretch this Saturday at the Hogan Sports Center when they take on Mitchell at 1pm.
