MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS JUST SHORT AGAINST ELMS

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team played the Elms Blazers on Saturday afternoon for a GNAC matchup. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Tobey Bellows (Waterbury, VT) put the first points on the board for the Chargers by draining two threes. Sean Peterson (Chester, NH) converted two layups and Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) made a layup as well. Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) and Thomas both made buckets to put the Chargers up 18-14. Thomas scored three more layups to put the Chargers up 24-19 with 2:39 left in the half. Adarkwa scored a three and Bellows made a jumper. Adarkwa made a jumper for the Chargers to close out the half. The Chargers entered the halftime intermission with a 31-26 lead. 

  • Peterson and Thomas both made layups at the beginning of the second half. Two buckets from Thomas and one from Peterson saw the Chargers trail 43-41 with 13 minutes left in the game. Bellows and Thomas both scored another bucket. Peterson made a layup, as the Chargers trailed 50-47 with 2:45 left on the clock. Adarkwa made a jumper. The Blazers won the game 56-52. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Thomas led the scoring for the Chargers with a season-high 19-point performance. 

  • Peterson recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and recording a career-high 16 rebounds. 

  • Bellows ended the game on 12 points. 

  • RJ Mayfield led the scoring for the Blazers with 15 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 32 points in the paint.  

Up Next: 

The Chargers will continue their three-game home stretch on Wednesday when they host Rivier at 7:30pm.
