CHICKS SECOND STRAIGHT DOUBLE DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH AGAINST PILGRIMS

Henniker, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team played New England College in a GNAC conference match on Tuesday evening. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) scored a layup early in the first quarter for the Chargers. A Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) three leveled the game at five. Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH), MacDonald, Catherine Chick (Glen, NH), and Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) all converted layups in the first quarter. New England College led 22-20 at the end of the first quarter. 

  • Grillone and Chick each scored a layup for the Chargers in the second quarter. MacDonald scored a layup with 1:12 left in the half. Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) joined the scoring by making a layup, which would be the last points from either team in the half. New England College was up 39-28 at the half. 

  • Mitchell continued the scoring for the Chargers by adding a couple of layups in the third quarter. Chick converted a layup with less than a minute to go in the quarter. 

  • Mitchell scored the first points of the fourth quarter for the Chargers with a layup. Less than a minute later, Drury drained another three. Moments after that, Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) drained a three. Mitchell added two more layups to the score. Leonard scored another three to add to the tally with 1:59 left in the game. Chick scored two more layups in the game. New England College won the game 76-57. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Mitchell led the scoring for the Chargers with 17 points. 

  • Chick recorded her second consecutive double-double of the season. Chick scored 13 points and recorded 10 rebounds. 

  • Drury ended the game with eight points and six assists. 

  • Camryn Lewis led the scoring for New England College with 14 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 40 points in the paint.
