MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO PILGRIMS ON THE ROAD

Henniker, NH – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team played their third GNAC game of the season against New England College on Tuesday evening in Henniker. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Sean Peterson (Chester, NH) scored a layup for the Chargers to account for the first points of the game scored by either team. About a minute later, Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) made a jumper. Peterson and Tobey Bellows (Waterbury, VT) each notched a layup. With 12:52 left in the half, Bellows hit a three-pointer. Moments later, Logan Lapierre Caissie (Ontario, Canada) scored a jumper. Bellows and Andrew Blunt (Alexandria, VA) went on to each score a basket. Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) scored two consecutive buckets: a layup and a three. Lapierre Caissie scored his second jumper of the half. Thomas and Bellows each made layups to tie the game up at 33. Bellows and Thomas would each score another layup to put the Chargers up by one. The Chargers entered the halftime break up 38-37. 

  • Bellows and Adarkwa each made jumpers early in the second half. Bellows and Peterson both scored buckets from three-point range to put the Chargers up 48-47. Lapierre Caissie scored a basket. Adarkwa made a three-pointer and Blunt scored a jumper to put the Chargers up by two. Peterson scored a layup, and Bellows added a three and a jumper. Lapierre Caissie made a bucket to tie the game at 66 with 5:16 to go on the clock. Adarkwa made two layups, but the Chargers trailed by three with 2:03 to go. Thomas scored a layup with a minute left to play. New England College won the match 78-72. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Bellows scored a career-high 23 points on Tuesday. 

  • Peterson recorded his sixth double-double of the season after scoring 13 points and recording 10 rebounds. 

  • Thomas ended the game on 11 points. 

  • Mike Strazzeri led the scoring for New England College with 24 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 32 points in the paint.
