WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PICKS UP FIRST GNAC WIN OF SEASON

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team secured their first GNAC win of the 2025-2026 season in front of the home crowd at the Hogan Sports Center on Saturday afternoon. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Early layups from Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, NH) and Makenna Grillone (Walpole, NH) gave the Chargers an early 4-0 lead. MacDonald subsequently drained a three, and Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, NH) converted a layup. MacDonald and Emily Leonard (Chester, NH) both scored layups to take a 13-2 lead. With two minutes to go in the first quarter, Leonard scored another layup. The Chargers led 17-7 after the first quarter. 

  • Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT) scored two early threes and Leonard added a three as the Chargers started the second quarter off quickly. Catherine Chick (Glen, NH) scored one basket and Mitchell scored two baskets with five minutes to go in the second. Chick and MacDonald each added two more points to the mix as the Chargers took a 38-22 lead going into the halftime break. 

  • A strong second half start saw two layups by Chick and two threes by Drury. Mitchell added a layup with a little more than seven minutes to go in the third. MacDonald continued the strong performance by draining another three. Drury added another three to the score. Chick scored two more layups and Taylor Fellows (Croydon, NH) scored a bucket as well. Molly Denis (Plattsburgh, NY) converted a layup and a free throw in the last moments of the third quarter. The Chargers led 65-35 with one quarter to go. 

  • Grillone scored a jumper about three minutes into the fourth quarter. Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT) drained a three. Drury scored another three with 4:51 left in the game. The Chargers won the match 77-52. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Drury led the scoring for the Chargers with 20 points and is now tied for fourth for single-game three-pointers made, as Drury made six threes on Saturday. 

  • Chick scored a season-high 14 points and recorded a season-high 11 rebounds. 

  • MacDonald ended the game with 14 points. 

  • Abigail Lacy led the scoring for Dean with 24 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 36 points in the paint.

The Chargers will next face off against New England College on Tuesday evening in Henniker, New Hampshire.
