MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS IN GNAC OPENER

Boston, MA – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team opened their GNAC conference campaign on Saturday afternoon against Emmanuel College. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Sean Peterson (Chester, NH) and Logan Lapierre Caissie (Ontario, Canada) both scored baskets in the first four minutes of the game for the Chargers. Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) converted a layup, as the Chargers trailed 15-7. Peterson and Tobey Bellows (Waterbury, VT) both scored jumpers within 30 seconds of each other. Lapierre Caissie made a layup with nine minutes to go in the half. The Saints would then go on a 9-0 run. But the Chargers responded with layups from Thomas and Lapierre Caissie. With less than four minutes to go, Lapierre Caissie and Peterson both made layups. Hayden Brown (Australia) scored his first points as a Colby-Sawyer Charger, as he drained a three with 2:38 to go in the half. Peterson and Dante DeMoor (Ronse, Ooost-Vlaanderen, Belgium) both made layups before the end of the half. The Saints led 55-32 at the break. 

  • Peterson and Bellows both scored layups at the beginning of the second half. With about ten minutes to go, Lapierre Caissie made a layup. About four minutes later, Brown drained another three. Lapierre Caissie scored two baskets in back-to-back offensive possessions for the Chargers. Derek Mendez (El Paso, TX) scored a three-pointer with 3:45 left. About a minute later, Brown scored another three. Mendez scored a layup in the next offensive possession. Brown scored a layup less than thirty seconds later. Brown scored his fourth three of the game with less than a minute to go. The Saints won it 92-67. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Lapierre Caissie scored a career-high 16 points and ended the game with six rebounds. 

  • Brown ended the game with 16 points and shot 4-4 from three-point range. 

  • Peterson recorded his fifth double-double of the season, recording 11 points and 12 rebounds. 

  • Danny Adams led the scoring for the Saints with 19 points. 

  • The Chargers shot 55.6% from three-point range. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will return to the Hogan Sports Center on Saturday to take on Dean College for a 3pm start.
