NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team hosted two schools on Sunday with Emerson and Norwich making their way to New London.
Rapid Recap vs Emerson:
- Emerson would start off strong jumping out to an early 3-1 lead with the Lions picking up the doubles point, and the number one singles and number four singles.
- Zsombor Homonnay (Budapest, Hungary) would pick up a point for the Chargers at number two singles (5-7, 7-5, 10-4). Peyton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) would help the Chargers crawl back into this one at number three singles (6-1, 3-6, 10-7).
- Oliver Gore and Max Biedermann would win the last two points for the Chargers at the number five and six singles. Gore would handle five singles (6-2, 6-1) and Biedermann would win six singles (4-6, 6-1, 10-4). This would complete the Chargers 3-1 comeback to win 4-3.
Rapid Recap vs Norwich:Â
- Chargers would handle business early as all three doubles matches would win 6-0.Â
- Ashton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) would handle number one singles (6-0, 6-4). Homonnay would take home the win and number two singles (6-0, 6-0) while Biedermann would move up to number three singles and earn the fourth point for the Chargers (6-1, 6-0). Oliver Van Hattum (Bunnik, Netherlands) would take care of the number four singles (6-2, 6-0) and Markus Rankins (Latham, N.Y.) would handle number five singles (6-1, 6-3).Â
- Alex Norris (Rockport, Mass.) would secure the sweep for the Chargers at number six singles (6-0, 6-1).
