Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

VOLLEYBALL SPLITS MATCHES BETWEEN BLUE JAYS AND BEACONS

New London, N.H. – The Chargers women's volleyball team played two home matches on Saturday, playing the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), followed by a match against UMass Boston. 

Game 1 Rapid Recap: 

  • The Chargers would jump to a 16-12 lead in the first set. From there, two kills from Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.) and three service aces from Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas) would help the Chargers win the first set 25-16. 

  • The Chargers would battle to a 12-7 lead in the second set against the Blue Jays. Kills by Brakemeier, Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA), Claire Rocky (Sherman, Conn.), and Jules LaRock (Austin, Texas) would propel the Chargers to win the second set. 

  • The Chargers and Blue Jays were tied at 16 in the third set. 3 Service Aces from Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.), and 4 Assists from Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) would go on to help the Chargers sweep the match in 3 sets.  

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Bacon completed the match with 31 Assists and 3 Service Aces. 

  • Brakemeier led the team in Kills with 10, making it a season best for her so far. 

  • The win against the Blue Jays pushes the Chargers to a 2-0 record in conference, keeping them undefeated in conference play. 

Game 2 Rapid Recap: 

  • A pair of kills by Rocky in the first set would help the Chargers jump out to a 5-1 lead. Both teams would battle it out for the remainder of the set. Key moments included two more kills by Rocky, and a pair of consecutive service aces by Sinatro. The set would end going in favor of UMass Boston. 

  • The Beacons of UMass Boston took the lead in the second set, going up 6-3. Piller, Rocky, and Sasnett would all pick up key kills in the Chargers efforts in the second set. The Beacons would go on to win the second set. 

  • A Service Ace by Bacon helped the Chargers take a 3-2 lead in the third set. Sasnett went on to make 4 kills throughout the remainder of the third set. The Beacons ended up winning the third set. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Rocky led the team in Kills with 7 on Saturday afternoon. 

  • Sinatro led the Chargers in two categories, helping the team out with 2 Aces and 15 Digs. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers return to the Hogan Center on Tuesday, when they face the Owls of Keene State for a 7pm start.
