CHARGERS TAKE STRAIGHT SETS AGAINST BULLDOGS FOR FIRST GNAC WIN

FRANKLIN, MASS. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team headed to Franklin, Massachusetts to take on the Dean Bulldogs, marking their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference match-up of the year. The Chargers would go on to sweep in straight sets to start conference play 1-0.

  • The Chargers cruised to an 11-5 start to kick off set number one. Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.), Brooke Tasker (Wolfeboro, N.H.), and Claire Rocky (Sherman, Conn.) would share the offensive load, each recording a kill to help the Chargers jump out to the lead. Five errors from the Bulldogs would also help the Chargers race out in front while Jules Larock (Austin, Texas) picked up her first collegiate ace. Rocky would continue to add a couple kills, with Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA) would join in to take set one. 
  • Colby-Sawyer would charge out to another 9-3 lead in set two. Five more errors from the Bulldogs would help the Chargers while Sasnett would add two kills, and Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) would add a service ace. Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) would add a couple assists, pushing the Chargers towards a set two victory.
  • The Chargers once again would jump out to an 11-5 lead to start the third set. The Chargers would see the pair of first years, Sasnett and Larock record service aces, while Bacon would record a kill. Colby-Sawyer all match took advantage of the Bulldogs errors, and the same would be said in the third set. Leah Barlow (Bourne, Mass.) and Sailor Plourde (Branfod, Conn.) would join in on the Chargers offense and record a pair of kills to end set three.
Inside the Numbers:
  • This would be the Chargers third straight win against the Bulldogs in the last two years, where Colby-Sawyer would take home a regular season victory, and playoff victory in 2024. 
  • Colby-Sawyer would tally 10 service aces, marking the third time the Chargers have hit double digits so far this season. 
  • Jules Larock in her first collegiate game would stand out as she recorded a match hig, 3 aces to kick off her young career.

The Chargers will play host to their first home tri-match of the year as the University of Saint Joseph's Conneticut and UMASS Boston come to town. The Chargers will play at 11AM and 3:30PM while the middle match will be played by Blue Jays and Beacons.
