FIELD HOCKEY PREVIEW 2025

WOMEN'S FIELD HOCKEY RELEASES 2025 SCHEDULE

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's field hockey team has released their schedule for the 2025 season. After finishing 12-7 in 2024, the Chargers are ready to make a run in 2025 with a handful of returning athletes and a handful of newcomers.

Key Match Ups:

The Chargers kick off the 2025 season on the road against Keene State on September 3rd. The Chargers and Owls will be meeting for the 9th time in program history, a match up that has been split the last two years. The Owls finished 16-7 last year, and would win the Little East Conference championship to head to the NCAA tournament. The Chargers are looking to have a repeat of the last time they beat the Owls which was in 2023 in Keene. The first home game of 2025 will see the Terriers come to town on September 6th, a team the Chargers have only seen twice. The Chargers and Terriers have split their two match ups between '23 and '24. The Terriers finished 10-7 last year, making their conference championship but falling to Husson University.

The Chargers head to Plymouth on September 10th to take on the Panthers who finished 10-9 in 2024. The Chargers handed the Panthers one of those losses, as well as taken 3 of the last four match ups. 2025 will mark the 7th time these two programs will meet as the Chargers look for the edge in a 3-3 overall record against the Panthers. The Spartans from the University of Vermont State Castleton will make their way to New London on September 17th. The Spartans, who finished 16-5 in 2024 are a familiar rival of the Chargers from the North Atlantic Conference days. The program has not seen the Spartans since 2018, while looking for their first win against them since 2016.

University of Maine-Farmington will come back to New London, like they did in 2024. The Chargers are looking to secure their 5th win in the last 6 match ups against the Beavers with the latest wins in 2022 and 2024. The program has scored a total of 11 goals in the last two match ups against the Beavers, and looking to take care of them again in 2025. The Chargers will end their season on October 29th against Union College on the road. The Garnet Chargers will host the Chargers for the very first time in the two programs histories. 2024 saw the Garnet Chargers finish 14-6 but would eventually lose in the Liberty League tournament by a shootout.

Shifting gears to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, the Chargers will start their conference play against Dean College on September 13th in Franklin, Mass. The two programs will face off for the 6th time, with the Chargers winning the last 5. The Chargers will host University of Saint Joseph in New London on September 20th. The Blue Jays finished 11-8 in 2024, but took down the Chargers at the end of the season during both programs' playoff pushes. The Chargers look to bounce back in 2025 winning three of the last four match ups.

The Chargers will host Simmons University on September 27th at 12PM. The Sharks finished 18-4 last year and were the GNAC runner ups. The two programs will be meeting for the 13th time with the Chargers winning the last 3 of 4. The program will be hosting their first night game on October 1st against New England College. The Chargers took down the Pilgrims in a thriller in 2024 that saw a 1-0 win 19 seconds into overtime. The program will be seeking their 10th all time win against the Pilgrims in 2025.

The Chargers will head to Maine to take on Saint Joseph's, a team the program saw twice in 2024. The two teams split both match ups last year, where the Monks took down the Chargers in the play-in game. The program looks for redemption in 2025 against the Monks. The Chargers will host their last home game against Regis College on October 18th for Senior Day. The Pride will come to New London after falling to the Chargers in 2024. The program will be in search of their 10th win all time against the Pride in 2025.
