New London, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team fell at home in a non-conference matchup to Nichols College 11-8 Wednesday afternoon.

- The Bison would take advantage of a Chargers turnover early in the opening quarter and found the back of the net three minutes in. One minute later, senior Heather Hanson (Barnstable, Mass.) scored her first goal of the game to even the score at 1-1. The Bison would continue to take advantage of turnovers by the Chargers and two more goals late in the quarter, but sophomore Rose Finlayson (Hopkinton, N.H.) would score her first goal of the game as the Chargers trailed 3-2 at the end of the quarter. Â
- Nichols would quickly score two goals in the second quarter to increase their lead to 5-2, but Hanson would score her second goal of the game to trim the deficit to two. Junior Elena Bronson (Bristol, Vt.) would find the back of the net with six minutes remaining to trim the lead to 5-4. The Bison responded with two goals of their own to take a 7-4 lead heading into halftime. Â
- The Chargers continued to battle in the third quarter as junior Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) would open the scoring to cut the lead to 7-5. The Chargers would take advantage of turnovers and errors caused by the Bison as junior Sophie Pedro (Scituate, R.I.) would trim the lead to 7-6 with a goal of her own. The Bison responded with their eighth goal of the game to extend their lead, but minutes later, Hanson would score her third goal of the game to keep the Chargers within one goal as the third quarter came to a close. Â
- The teams would continue to battle in the fourth quarter as they traded turnovers, but the Bison would find the back of the net with ten minutes remaining to take the 9-7 lead. The Bison kept forcing turnovers against the Chargers and added two more goals to extend their lead to 11-7 with 4:22 remaining in the quarter. Finlayson would take advantage of a foul committed by the Bison to score her second goal of the game and trim the lead, but the Bison continued to cause turnovers as they came away with the 11-8 victory. Inside the Numbers:Â
- Hanson paced the Chargers with three goals, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers while Finlayson added two goals, and five draw controls. Senior Soph Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.) chipped in two assists, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Â
- Senior Hannah Himes (Williston, Vt.) led the way for the Chargers with five ground balls and five caused turnovers while sophomore Emily Weagle (Clinton, Mass.) recorded three caused turnovers. Â
- Senior AJ Paton (Exeter, N.H.) picked up the loss but registered 11 saves and one ground ball. Â
