CHARGERS DROP CONFERENCE MATCHUP TO RAIDERS IN NASHUA

NASHUA, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse played their third GNAC game in a row as they traveled to Nashua to take on the Rivier Raiders. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The Raiders would get the scoring going as they scored three minutes into the first quarter at the hands of Sarah LaChance. The Chargers would go on to score the next three goals with two goals coming at the stick of Soph Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.) with one of them being assisted by Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.). Heather Hanson (Barnstable, Mass.) would score the other goal on an assist by Andrea Smith (Gray, Maine). The Raiders would come back to tie the game at three to end the first quarter off goals by Brooke Carter and Sarah LaChance.
  • First Year Lauren Vignola (Ringwood, N.J.) got the scoring going in the second quarter with an unassisted goal. Sofia Cebrero for the Raiders would knot the game at four off an assist from Cassie Hemmerdinger. The Chargers would score two more goals in the quarter thanks to Cecilia Ponzini and Andrea Smith, where she was assisted by Kuhlthau. Ashlynn Ledoux would get another one back for the Raiders followed by Cebrero tying the game at six going into halftime. 
  • The Chargers would score in the third quarter to tie the game at seven after halftime on a goal by Lauren Vignola assisted by Madeline Knight (Pownal, Maine). Cecilia Ponzini would score the Chargers eighth goal of the game in the fourth quarter. 
Inside the Numbers: 
  • The Chargers were led by Cecilia Ponzini as she picked up two goals, and one assist, while picking up five ground balls. Kuhlthau also had two goals and an assist, while First Year Lauren Vignola also had two goals. Hannah Himes (Williston, Vt.) led the team in ground balls, picking up seven.
  • The Raiders were led by Sofia Cebrero who scored five goals while picking up an asisst. 
Up Next:
The Chargers will head up to Maine on Wednesday as they will take on Saint Joseph's of Maine in Standish with a start time of 5:00PM.
