PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL. - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers women's lacrosse team would pull off a strong come from behind victory over Wellesley College Wednesday afternoon, splitting their two games during the Spring Fling trip.

- The Chargers would fall behind early in the first quarter after The Blue would take a 3-1 lead behind strong play from Finley Tipton who would score the first two goals and assist on another. Soph Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.) would knot the game up at one between Tipton goals off an assist from Elena Bronson (Bristol, Vt.).
- Wellesley would take a 4-1 lead after another goal early in the second period. The Chargers would storm back scoring the next two thanks to Kuhlthau setting up Rose Finalyson (Hopkinton, NH) while Madeline Knight (Pownal, Maine) would follow just thirty seconds later. Tipton would score for The Blue again, while the Chargers struck back again with a Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) would find the back of the net thanks to Kuhlthau.Â
- The Chargers would come out of halftime to tie the game quick thanks to a Heather Hanson (Barnstable, Mass.) goal. The Blue would retake the lead thanks to another goal, but the Chargers would take the lead and not look back after that. Ponzini would return the favor to Kuhlthau as she would score her second goal as Hanson would give the Chargers a 7-6 lead with an unassisted goal. The Blue would tie it at 7, before the Senior duo of Kuhlthau and Hanson would both score again for the Chargers making it 9-7.
- The Blue would get one more in the 4th period and the Chargers defense would end the game strong to keep Wellesley at 8, for a hard fought 9-8 Charger victory!
Inside the Numbers:
- Soph Kuhlthau would lead the way for the Chargers, with three goals and two assists. Her co-captain, Heather Hanson would power in three goals as well for the Chargers, one of them being the game winner. Finley Tipton would lead The Blue with three goals, and two assists herself.Â
- AJ Paton (Exeter, N.H.) would pick up her fifth win of the season in net, securing five saves while facing 20 shots.Â
