CHARGERS FINISH 4TH AT GNAC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON, MASS. - The Colby-Sawyer men's track team finished 4th this afternoon at the GNAC Indoor Championships hosted at Boston University.

Rapid Recap: 
  • Cody Thompson (Dunnellon, FL) would lead the charge for the Chargers competing in 6 different events throughout the afternoon. He would come in second place in the 800m with a time of 1:57.75. He would go on to finish second in the mile with a time of 4:40.66. He would come in second in the 3000m with a time of 9:20.50. He would round out his individual events with another second place finish in the 5000m, finishing with a time of 16:34.82.
  • First Year, Mason Sayers (Lanesborough, Mass.) would qualify for the 60m dash finals, where he would finish 4th place overall with a time of 7.24 seconds, securing 4 points for the Chargers. 
  • Senior, Jonathan Platti would compete in the 400m and 800m where he would pick up two cosecutive 7th place finishes with times of 52.15 in the 400 and 2:07.53 in the 800.
  • The Chargers would put two relays on the track for the championship, starting with the men's 4x4, comprised of Jonathan Platti, Cody Thompson, Hayden Goyette (Epsom, N.H.) and Aidan Weagle (Hudson, Mass.) where they would finish 5th with a time of 3:53.28. Thompson and Platti would go on to be on the distance medley relay with Marty Steucek (Ashburnham, Mass.) and Cross Sierra (Bourne, Mass.) where they would go on to finish first, with a time of 11:24.11.
  • Junior, Matt Gaudioso (Branford, Conn.) would continue his strong first year with the program on the field side of the meet. Gaudioso would get a massive personal best in the triple jump, as he jumped his way to 11.34m which got him 7th. He would then go on to get another personal best in shot put, throwing 11.34m which was good for 5th place.
Inside the Numbers: 
  • The Chargers would finish in 4th place as they would rack up 51 total points in the meet.
  • Thompson would be the lone Charger to receive individual recognition for All-Conference as he powered his way to 32 points individually. The men's distance medley relay of Thompson, Platti, Steucek, and Sierra would also get All-Conference recognition. 
Up Next:
The Chargers will have some time off as they transition to the outdoor season which kicks off at the end of March. A few will prepare for the NEICAAA Indoor Championships on March 7th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.
