MEN'S BASKETBALL MATCHES UP WITH OWLS OF WESTFIELD STATE

New London, NH – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team will travel to Westfield, Massachusetts to play the Westfield State Owls on Monday night at 7pm.  

The Chargers are coming off a midweek loss at Plymouth State University on Wednesday. The Chargers have scored 80+ points in two of their last three games. Westfield State will be the fourth MASCAC team that the Chargers will have played this year, after playing Framingham State, Salem State, and Fitchburg State. 

The Owls are 4-2 on the season and are coming off a loss to Amherst College on Saturday. The Owls have scored 80+ points in three games this season. Colby-Sawyer will be the fourth GNAC team that the Owls will have played this year, after having played Albertus Magnus, Mitchell, and Emmanuel. 

The Chargers: 

  • Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) – One of the captains for the Chargers, Adarkwa scored 10 points on Wednesday and 22 points last Sunday against Fitchburg State. 

  • Tevin Edmunds – The First-Year guard led the Chargers in scoring on Wednesday after scoring 11 points. 

  • Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) – The Sophomore forward is currently leading the Chargers in points and is averaging 11.6 points per game. Thomas is also averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. 

The Owls: 

  • Kenney Rogers – The Sophomore Forward is averaging 16.3 points per game and is leading the Owls in points this season. 

  • Joe Thomson – The Sophomore Forward is averaging 12.2 rebounds per game and is leading the Owls in rebounds this season. 

  • A.Z. Allah – Allah is averaging 3 assists per game and is leading the Owls in assists this season. 

The Historical Matchup: 

Monday will be the second ever meeting between the two sides. Their first meeting was last season when the Owls got the victory at the Hogan Sports Center. 

Looking Ahead: 

After Monday, the Chargers will stay on the road and play Gordon College on Thursday at 6pm.
