MEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS SALEM ST IN HOME OPENER

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team opened up their home campaign on Saturday against Salem State University. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Elijah Thomas (Fairfax, VA) made two free throws and a three to open up the scoring for the Chargers making it a 5-1 game. About 10 minutes later, Thomas would have a three-point play by putting away a layup and a free throw. The Chargers would be trailing the Vikings 18-14. Andrew Blunt (Alexandria, VA) made a three to cut the deficit to three, as the Vikings would lead 24-21. Sean Peterson (Chester, N.H.) and Thomas would both convert layups as the Chargers would trail 50-32 going into the halftime break. 

  • Thomas scored four points early in the second half, as the Vikings would lead 67-38. Emmanuel Adarkwa (Lawrenceville, GA) would score a layup and a three, as about ten minutes were left in the game. With eight and a half minutes left in the game, Dante De Moor (Ronse, Ooost-Vlaanderen, Belgium) scored a three. De Moor would score two layups, followed by Derek Mendez draining a three. Salem State would go on to win the game 96-67. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Thomas ended the game with 17 points. 

  • Peterson ended the game with a double-double, scoring 12 points and recording 10 rebounds. 

  • Junior Efosa ended the game with 11 points and seven rebounds. 

  • Jamel Walker led the scoring for the Vikings, by recording 18 points. 

  • The Chargers scored 32 points in the paint. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers return to the Hogan Sports Center on Tuesday for a non-conference match against Vermont State Castleton at 5:30pm.
