WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WINS BIG AT HOME AGAINST BADGERS

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team played Vermont State University Johnson at the Hogan Sports Center on Wednesday evening. 

Rapid Recap:  

  • Catherine Chick (Glen, N.H.) scored the first point of the game for the Chargers off a free throw. Two buckets from Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) made the score 5-2. Chick made two layups to increase the lead to 12-4. Emily Leonard (Chester, N.H.) made a three to end the first quarter with an 18-13 Chargers lead. 

  • Mitchell added a three-pointer as the Chargers would lead 25-17 in the second quarter. Moments later, Leonard made her second three of the game. Leonard would make her third three of the game a few minutes later. The Chargers would enter the halftime break ahead 35-22.  

  • Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, N.H.), Leonard, and Mitchell all had layups in the third quarter that helped the Chargers lead 42-29. Delaney Raymond (Lyndon, VT.) added to the scoring by making a three. The Chargers would end the third quarter, leading 56-36. 

  • Leonard scored her fourth three of the game about two minutes into the fourth quarter. MacDonald scored the next four points of the game. With about three minutes to go, Raymond would score another three. The Chargers won the game 74-48. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Mitchell finished the game with 19 points and five rebounds. 

  • Leonard finished the game with 19 points and went 4-6 from three-point range.  

  • MacDonald finished the game with eight points and four rebounds. 

  • The Chargers scored 25 points from fast breaks. 

Up Next: 

The Chargers will travel to Fitchburg, Massachusetts on Saturday to play Fitchburg State University at noon.
