CHARGERS GIVE NICHOLS TEST IN SATURDAY CONTEST

New London, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team played Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at the Hogan Sports Center. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • Catherine Chick (Glen, N.H.) scored the first points for Colby-Sawyer, tying the game up 2-2. Chick would score three more points in the first quarter, as the Chargers would lead 12-10. 

  • Emily Leonard (Chester, N.H.) would drain two threes in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Tanner Drury (Bethel, VT.) would knock down two threes in the last five minutes of the second quarter, as the Chargers would trail Nichols at the half 35-29.  

  • In the first five minutes of the third quarter, Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) would supply four points for the Chargers, as Nichols would lead 45-39. Leonard and Dury would remain dangerous from behind-the-arc, as Leonard scored one and Drury scored two threes to end the third quarter. 

  • With the game tied at 53 going into the fourth quarter, Drury would score a layup to tie the game up at 55. Drury would score another three with less than two minutes to go, as Nichols led 72-65. Nichols would go on to win 76-67. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Drury would score a career-high 25 points, going 5-9 from three-point range. 

  • Leonard would score a career-high 20 points, going 4-7 from three-point range. 

  • Mitchell would score nine points and get 10 rebounds. 

  • The Chargers scored 20 points in the paint.

The Chargers' next game is on Wednesday at the Hogan Sports Center at 6pm against Vermont State University Johnson.
