NEW LONDON, CONN. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team headed to Connecticut on Saturday morning looking to pick up two conference wins over Mitchell and New England College.
Rapid Recap Game 1:Â
- The Chargers jumped out to an early 16-10 lead in set one as Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas) and Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA) would lead the way with multiple kills each. The Chargers would take set one 25-18.
- Set two would go back and forth, with the Mariners trying to tie the match at 1 set a piece. Mitchell would start with a 15-12 lead in the middle stages of the set before the Chargers saw Brenna Piller and Brakemeier help push the Chargers on top to take the set, 25-23.
- The third set would be a battle as both teams would fight. The Chargers held a 19-18 lead, but Molly Wordell would pick up a couple kills to help the set reach a knot at 22, before the Mariners took set three, 28-26.
- The fourth set was another back and forth battle before the Chargers took a 20-15 lead on a 6-0 run thanks to four kills from Sasnett. The Chargers would take set four and the match.
Inside the Numbers Game 1:
- Addison Sasnett (14) and Kamryn Brakemeier (13) would lead the offense with kills picking up 27 of the teams 47 total.
- Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) would record 36 assists, while adding 3 aces to her total bringing her to 130 career aces.
- The Chargers would record 12 aces total, with 81 digs as the pair of Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) and Jules Larock (Austin, Texas) would pick up 25 and 18 respectively.
Rapid Recap Game 2:
- The Charges would open up the second game against NEC with a 16-8 lead. Multiple errors from the Pilgrims, and a couple of kills from Sasnett and Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.) would have the Chargers rolling to a first set victory, 25-17.
- Bree Bacon would pick up two assists and an ace late in the second set during a back and forth battle to help push the Chargers to a second set victory, 25-23.
- Set three would see a similar fate as the Mariners match prior. The Chargers would go on a 7-0 run late in the set thanks to Piller, Sasnett, and Leah Barlow (Bourne, Mass.). The Pilgrims would return with an 8-0 run behind Lily-Anne Heywood, and Tyra Kelly.
- Set four would be all Chargers after opening to a 21-7 lead. Brakemeier would have 4 kills over the span of the Chargers eight points near the end of the set to take a win in the second match.
Inside the Numbers Game 2:
- Kamryn Brakemeier would set a season high in kills in a single game as she would record 18 in four sets bringing her season total to 169. Sasnett would follow with 12 kills as she now has 174 on the season.Â
- Brenna Piller would finish with 8 kills and 12 digs while Bree Bacon would pick up 41 assists, marking the second time she has reached 40 this season.
- Sinatro (24) and Larock (12) would help push the pace on receptions with their digs.Â
- The team would record 48 total kills, 44 assists, 10 aces, and 82 digs.
