CHARGERS BATTLE HARD IN NON-CONFERENCE MATCH-UP AGAINST PLATTSBURGH

Plattsburgh, N.Y. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team took on the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on Tuesday evening. 

Rapid Recap: 

  • The Chargers started the first set strong, jumping to an 11-8 lead. Addison Sasnett (Virginia Beach, VA) and Brenna Piller (Simsbury, Conn.) would provide kills for the Chargers as the Cardinals took a 24-18 lead. The Chargers continued to fight as Piller and Claire Rocky (Sherman, Conn.) would each get a kill before the end of the set which the Cardinals would win. 

  • The Chargers led with a scoreline of 11-7 in the second set. Piller, Rocky, and Kamryn Brakemeier (Fort Worth, Texas) would all contribute with kills as the Chargers won four consecutive points to get the score to 15-8. Alexis Mandrino (Dunbarton, N.H.), Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.), and Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) all had aces as the Chargers would take the second set. 

  • The third set saw both teams build to an even scoreline of 7-7. Brakemeier would get four kills and Piller would add one as the score changed to 16-14 in favor of the Cardinals. Both teams fought and the two-point game would remain as the Cardinals would win the third set 25-23. 

  • The Chargers took an early 4-2 lead in the fourth set. The Cardinals would score several points to take a six-point lead. Leah Barlow (Bourne, Mass.) and Piller would each get kills as the Cardinals took a 22-10 lead. Brakemeier would get two more kills as the Cardinals took the fourth set. 

Inside the Numbers: 

  • Brakemeier led the Chargers in kills with 15 on the day. 

  • Bacon's 35 assists is her 6th match this season with at least 30 assists.

The Chargers return to the Hogan Sports Center on Saturday as they host GNAC opponents Emmanuel College at 11am.
