NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team fell to the Norwich Cadets, Wednesday afternoon, 84-40 in their most recent conference match-up.
Rapid Recap:
- The Cadets came out firing on all cylinders as they stormed out to a 13-5 behind a fast six points by Cadets forward Maren McGinn in the paint. Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) would hit a three for the Chargers to bring their total to 5 as the Chargers struggled to start the game. McGinn would go on to power the Cadets finishing the first quarter with ten points to lead the first quarter 19-7.
- The Chargers would continue to struggle to find the ball through the hoop, as the shots weren't hitting before they would start knocking down a good majority of their free throws to try and claw back into the game. Hayden Wilkins (North Concord, VT.) would power the Chargers in the second quarter dropping four points as the Cadets would continue their hot shooting and take a 39-16 lead going into the half.
- The Chargers would find a little groove as Marissa Holt and Makenna Grillone (Walpole, N.H.) would knock down back to back threes to help the Chargers garner some momentum.
- Lauren MacDonald (Tilton, N.H.) would close out the game strong for the Chargers as she would score the final 5 of 8 points.
Inside the Numbers:
- Maren McGinn from the Cadets would lead all scorers with 23 points, and 10 rebounds. Haley Brewster would be right behind her with 19 points.
- The Chargers were led by Lauren MacDonald who had 8 points, while Elyza Mitchell and Marissa Holt who both had 6 points a piece.
